Our Display at the Fall Plant Festival 2002 Inspired by the ideas of former President Howard Yancy and driven to action by his fortitude, the Hukyu Bonsai Society of Tampa has recently installed a permanent display at the USF Botanical Gardens. Together with the Botanical Gardens Director, Laurie Walker, we were able to arrange with the Gardens for a beautiful little spot down near Lake Benke to be devoted to the art of bonsai. With this significant club project we hope to raise the awareness of the public to the efforts of the bonsai community within their own area. Expanding the horticultural knowledge and horizons of gardeners through the re-creation, in an idealistic miniature form, of the plants seen elsewhere in the Gardens natural environment will heighten the impact of the Gardens as a whole.
